What It Is
No, Barbie Golf is not the latest career-themed Barbie doll, although were pretty sure at some point in Barbie’s life, she has been on the pro circuit. Barbie Golf is a line of authentic golf clubs decorated in Barbie’s signature colors and images.
The line includes everything a young golfer needs to hit the links, including a driver, iron, putter, USGA-approved golf ball, six wooden tees, three ball markers, carrying bag, and a visor.
Why It's Fun
Kids love having their very own versions of the same items they see their parents using. They are also a savvy group and don’t want to settle for “kiddie” versions-place a fake plastic cell phone and a real cell phone in front of a toddler and they will almost always choose to play with the real thing.
The Barbie golf clubs are real clubs designed for kids. These aren’t the fake plastic versions but actual, high performance clubs. Armed with their own clubs, kids can have a blast teeing off in the backyard.
Who's Going To Love It
While we don’t think tee-times will replace tea parties any time soon, kids at a much younger age than ever before are exploring the game of golf. Parents and caregivers who golf are often thrilled when their child expresses an interest in the sport, however, they are rarely keen on handing over an expensive Big Bertha to little hands.
Although they are more boys than girls entering the junior golfers league, the Barbie images and pink colors will probably be more appealing to girls. As for ages, girls as young as four will love these clubs but by age eight, they will be on their way to outgrowing Barbie Golf.
Certainly one of the trends that we’ve observed and heard from parents is that dads who love golf are eager to introduce their kids to the game so that they can share the experience. We’re all for anything that gets parents and kids spending time together, and since golf is a “life sport,” this is something that if kids take to it, they’ll love for a long time.
What To Be Aware Of
There are two different sized sets of Barbie Golf equipment - a set including 36"-46" clubs for girls ages 4-6 and a set including 46"-56" clubs for girls ages 6-9.
Additional items in the Barbie Golf line will include a six-piece golf ball pack sold exclusively at Target for a suggested retail price of $6.99.
