Why It’s Fun
The “Barbie-Cam” is a high tech interpretation
of one of the most classic play patterns of all time—“Let’s
put on a show!” Kids growing up in a culture saturated
with video naturally gravitate to that kind of fantasy. This
is the perfect product to enhance kids’ play at staging
rock videos, fashion shows and any productions kids can dream
of creating. The camera is the ideal tool for complementing
highly creative play within a format that kids understand
and enjoy. The Barbie license and the pearly pink color seems
to label this a “girls’ toy,” but don’t
be surprised if boys are fascinated by it, too. In fact, we
have yet to see an adult who isn’t wowed by this. Calling
it a “toy” doesn’t do justice to it. It has
just enough technology to be appealing to kids, without overwhelming
them with features they don’t need—or won’t
use. (And let’s be honest, a lot of adults don’t
use all the various “bells and whistles” that come
on some adult video cameras.)
Who’s Going To Love It
Anyone who likes to watch themselves on TV and video or dreams
of being the next Steven Spielberg or Barbara Walters will
love the Barbie Wireless Video Camera. This is great alternative
to letting your kids play with your expensive video equipment.

What To Be Aware Of
The Barbie-Cam comes with the receiver base, microphone,
camera tripod, universal remote and blank videotape. You need
a TV (and VCR for recording/playing videos), not included,
to play with the camera.
The size is excellent for small hands, and it’s very
sturdy. (We dropped ours several times and it kept working
fine.) Parents should have no worries about letting a six-year-old
play with this.
