WCW Mayhem
Electronic Arts for Nintendo 64
Teen
What It Is:
"World
Championship Wrestling Mayhem" is exactly what the name
implies. The player chooses his wrestler from the games
stable of real-life, wrestling all-stars; Goldberg, Sting,
Kevin Nash, Hollywood Hogan, Randy Savage and "Diamond"
Dallas Page. You can even create your own wrestler. Once you
select a persona, you find yourself in one corner of the ring,
with one of the other fighters opposite you. Let the wrestling
begin. In the Quest for the Best mode, you assume the identity
of your favorite wrestler and begin your ascent up the ranks,
with the Championship Belt as your ultimate goal.
Why Its Fun:
Accurate graphics representation of todays most popular wrestlers and
the wrestling moves themselves will please any fan of pro wrestling. Remember,
as in actual wrestling matches you see on TV, the fight is never contained solely
to the ring. This is half the fun. Learning to use the game pad controls effectively
is challenging and rewarding, when you finally do learn them. As some added
fun, The Pay-Per-View Password mode lets you recreate "real world"
wrestling events and matches by entering passwords that are televised during
WCW broadcasts or on the WCWs web site
Whos Going to Love It:
If even half of todays pro wrestling fans own a game system that supports
"Mayhem," this game should not be lacking in interested consumers.
Anyone who follows this televised "sport" will enjoy it.
What to Be Aware Of:
Whether the pro wrestling moves we see on television are staged or not, the
violence is certainly implied and present. This game is no different. Parents
should think carefully as to whether or not their children will want to emulate
the "off the ropes" plunges onto other peoples heads, or the
bone crushing body slams, that are present in "WCW Mayhem."
