What It Is
I have to admit, I wasn’t expecting much from this game. After all, the movie was a huge hit but out so long ago that most people have forgotten the jokes and lines. So I was pleasantly surprised when the game turned out to be a lot of fun.
Napoleon Dynamite, the game, is a collection of mini games featuring the movie’s characters, settings, and memorable scenes.
Why It’s Fun
Dozens of mini games (20 for the DS and 30 for the PSP) based on the movie keep the game play fresh. One of the most fun of these mini games is one that involves feeding Tina the llama. Playing as Napoleon, you have to try to throw food into Tina’s mouth from the other side of the fence while dodging her giant spit globs. You know how well you are doing by Tina’s stomach meter that measures the amount of food you have successfully thrown into her mouth. Trust me, it’s not as gross as it sounds but it is addictively fun.
Who’s Going To Love It
This may come as a shock, but I didn’t really like the movie. In fact, I think I fell asleep during it and never saw the end. However, I really enjoyed the video game so I guess you don’t have to be a fan of the movie to like the game. If you like mini games, you will probably like Napoleon Dynamite, the game and if you love the movie and mini games, then this is definitely right up your alley.
As far as ages go, younger kids will really enjoy this one and hard-core gamers are probably only going to like it if they like the movie.
What To Be Aware Of
The Good
PSP owners can play each other in head to head mini games over a wireless connection.
The Bad
No such multiplayer option exists for the Nintendo DS version of the game.
