What It Is
For many gamers, Mortal Kombat is the ultimate fighting game. Players choose from a cadre of colorful characters and engage in battle across multiple worlds and settings.
Armageddon was originally released in October of 2006, however, the Wii edition just arrived in stores. For the most part, this new edition is the same game as the 2006 version. The biggest change, however, is the Wii-Remote, which allows you to perform special moves and fatalities through a series of physical movements.
Why It’s Fun
With more than 60 fighters from the entire Mortal Kombat universe, scrolling through and selecting your favorite character from the franchises’ history is as much fun as the fight itself. Armageddon begins with most of the Mortal Kombat characters unlocked and ready to be played so you don’t have to spend hours playing just to access all those characters.
In addition to the classic fighting game-play, Armageddon includes a wacky and fun Mario-Kart style racing game. Using the Wii-Remote turned sideways, you can race up to four people with bobble-head like versions of popular characters.
Who’s Going To Love It
Most mature gamers are calling Armageddon the first real fighting game for the Wii. This game will appeal to fans of the Mortal Kombat series as well as fans of fighting games in general.
What To Be Aware Of
You will need both the Wii-Remote and nunchuck controller to play this game with full Wii functionality. However, the game also works with the GameCube controller, which plugs directly into the Wii.
The original Mortal Kombat game, released in the early 1990’s became the poster child for violent, blood-filled games. In many ways, this game led to the founding of the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB).
Armageddon for the Wii is no different. In fact, as graphics and technology have improved, so has the abundance of blood. For this reason, MK Armageddon is rated Mature and therefore not intended or suitable for anyone under the age of 17.
