Harry Potter — Labyrinth Game
Tiger Electronics
Ages 9 and Up

What It Is

The Harry Potter Labyrinth game is a motion handheld electronic game set that challenges players to guide the characters Ron and Harry through the halls of The Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Unlike other games using buttons to move the objects on the screen, this game works by tilting the entire game in the direction you want the characters to go.

The game has four levels, and the object is to move from the dungeon up to the main level and capture the evil troll who is after you. Just as in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, Harry and Ron have to rescue Hermione from the evil troll. It takes a lot of skill and some magic to be able to get past all the obstacles and save the day, but it can be done!

The LED game screen sits in a sculpted scene of Harry confronting the troll in the halls of Hogwarts.

Why It’s Fun

This is a basic electronic chase game, but the Harry Potter theme, motion-activated movement and wide variety of challenges make it fairly sophisticated for what it is. Labyrinth's different levels of mazes and obstacles challenge players, while the scene set up by the Harry Potter book series is sure to appeal to the imagination of younger game players. Great sound effects, along with solid gaming challenges, add to the play fun.

This game, in particular, is a great example of how good game play is always more important than technology. While nowhere nearly as elaborate as a Game Boy game, Labyrinth costs a fraction as much and has enough depth to be engaging and challenging for hours.

Who’s Going To Love It

Typically, this kind of game appeals most to boys ages 7-9, but because of the Harry Potter theme it may have some appeal to girls as well. Moreover, even though players have to do battle with the Troll, (something boys love) there are challenges and puzzles that appeal to girls, too. Certainly, there’s enough challenge in learning to play the game that it’s easily worth the money.

The sound effects are very high quality for a game of this nature, which adds to the play experience.

Kids shouldn't become bored with Labyrinth too quickly since they can save Hermione over and over again.

What To Be Aware Of

The figures are firmly attached to the game unit. Still, this game should not be left around young children under three. As with all electronic games, this game should not be exposed to high heat, such as left in a car in the sun, as high temperatures can harm the electronics. The game requires 3 "AAA" batteries, not included.
