Game Boy Advance SP

ESRB Rated E (for Everyone)

What It Is

Nintendo has just released the latest “must-have” for your gaming collection – the Game Boy Advance SP! Trust us, even if you just got the Game Boy Advance within the past few months and can’t imagine playing on anything else, your going to want the new SP model. This redesigned version of the immensely popular Game Boy Advance, features a brand new back-lit screen for playing in any lighting condition, a rechargeable lithium-ion battery and flip-screen design making it even more portable.

Why It’s Fun

Every kid who is into Game Boy Advance knows why it’s fun. But this is easier to carry, has a backlight and is rechargeable. All of those elements add value. We found that the controls are just as comfortable to work as the traditional GBA.

Who’s Going To Love It

The game screen is the same size as the current GBA but thanks to the slim new flip-screen design, the SP folds up, and you can easily stick this little electronic wonder into any pocket for true portable game power, which is sure to appeal to huge range of fans. If you are new to the world of Game Boy Advance, this is a great place to start.

We expect that this is also going to appeal to the older gamers who have complained about the difficulty of seeing the GBA screen in certain lighting conditions.

What To Be Aware Of

Don’t freak out and think this means your entire GBA (Game Boy Advance) game library is now worthless. All current and future GBA games are compatible with the SP model. In fact, Nintendo will continue to manufacture and support the current GBA system. The GBA SP comes in Platinum and Cobalt.

The battery will last for about ten hours of game play and takes three hours to recharge. However, the Nintendo geniuses behind the SP have included an on/off feature for the Front Light Screen and turning the light off allows the battery to last for approximately eighteen hours before it needs to be recharged. So, for those times when you don’t need the light, like playing at a desk in a well-lit office, you can turn it off and get another eight hours of play time out of your GBA.
