What It Is

Donkey Kong is making its debut with its first game for the Game Boy Advance (GBA). The title swung into stores at the beginning of June, 2003.

The game is an updated version of the original side-scrolling game for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES), with all new features. In the game, Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong are trying to get Donkey Kong’s stolen bananas back from King K. Rool and his Kremlings. Donkey and Diddy have help from a bunch of friends as they search from the treetops of the Kongo Jungle to the cliffs of Gorilla Glacier for those stolen bananas.

Why It’s Fun

It’s a Donkey Kong game on the GBA system! Need we say more? Ok, Donkey Kong is a Nintendo icon and a founding father of one of the most successful gaming franchises of all time. The new Donkey Kong Country is a great opportunity to swing through an endless supply of cool settings as the big ape himself. There is also a feature that allows you to switch between Donkey and Diddy as you play.

Who’s Going To Love It

This is the perfect choice for anyone looking for a simple but fun game for the GBA. Nintendo fans—there are a large number of people who are loyal to the Nintendo Universe—will love DK’s first GBA game.

As evidenced by the popularity of the classic Nintendo games, re-launched for the eReader accessory (it plugs into the GBA and you swipe cards to load the game into its memory), there is a sizable population of kids and adults who love handhelds, but who are looking for something simple that can be picked up and put down relatively easily without disrupting the entertainment value. These gamers will find this product particularly satisfying.

What To Be Aware Of

DK Country allows you to link up with another GBA system to play new mini-games, like Funky’s Fishing and Candy’s Dance Studio. GBA Link Cables are not included.
