What It Is
Unless you have been lost in Mirkwood for the past few years, chances are you’ve heard of Lord of the Rings. Maybe you’ve read the books or seen the movies based on J.R.R. Tolkien’s best-selling, magical epic. If you are a fan of either the books or movies then you have to play the electronic game from Black Label Games for PC, PlayStation2, Xbox and Game Boy Advance.

The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring is a third-person, action-adventure game featuring three members of the Fellowship, Frodo, Aragorn and Gandolf as playable characters – each with his own special abilities. The Game Boy Advance version is slightly different as a single-player, light role-playing game with a turn-based combat system, similar to the combat style of Pokemon for Game Boy.

Why It’s Fun

The game’s storyline closely follows the first volume of Tolkien’s saga and the player follows the same course as the literary travelers. The game does an excellent job of placing the player in the adventure. In fact, there are even a few surprising and scary moments, like encountering the Black Riders on a dark road, that might make you jump out of your gaming seat.

Who’s Going To Love It

The Lord of the Rings, in all its forms, has a huge fans base and chances are a good, a lot of those fans will want to play the game. The game is incredibly detailed and highly involved. You can spend hours just roaming around Bilbo & Frodo’s Hobbit Hole, a feature that will really thrill fans.

What To Be Aware Of

The game is rated T for Teen and as we mentioned, there are some frightening elements that may be a bit much for young kids.
